World Pathfinder Day 2024: A Celebration of Faith
The World Pathfinder Day took place on Sabbath 21st September at the Vertu Motors Arena in Newcastle. This highly anticipated event, organised by Pastor Ikwisa Mwasumbi (Pathfinder Director for the North England Conference) and team, was attended by 1,400 Pathfinders and church members.
The day was filled with spiritual activities, praise, and heartfelt commitment, as Pathfinders from across the Conference gathered to celebrate their faith and dedication to God. The highlight of the event was a powerful baptism ceremony, where 22 Pathfinders made a public declaration of their faith. Initially, 21 Pathfinders had been scheduled for baptism, but as an appeal was made, one more Pathfinder stepped forward, receiving clearance from his pastor in attendance.
In addition to the baptisms in Newcastle, another significant celebration was happening concurrently on the Isle of Man, where seven Pathfinders were also baptised. The joyous momentum continues, as 15 more Pathfinders are scheduled for baptism in Leeds on October 19th, further demonstrating the widespread impact of the Pathfinder ministry across the region. Following the baptism service, Master Guide Pastor Dan Majadoucan, made an appeal for others to commit their life to Jesus, leading 37 young people to respond.
Reflecting on the day, Pastor Mwasumbi said, "The aim of Pathfindering is clear, 'the Advent message to all the world in my generation!' This cannot be reached without Pathfinders who are clear about their identity, mission, commitment and purpose! That's why the central objective of Pathfindering, is making sure '... the number one priority of your club program the personal salvation of every Pathfinder’ Objectives of Pathfinder Ministry #4.
As a Department, our aim and commitment is to ensure we support the clubs across our Conference in raising up our young people to fulfill the aim of this ministry for such a time as this. We give God praise for this wonderful result!'"
Pathfinders are invited to participate in the ongoing virtual Bible Study sessions every Wednesday at 7:00 PM. This initiative, aimed at deepening the Pathfinders' understanding of Scripture, is accessible to all and serves as a valuable resource for spiritual growth and preparation.
The event truly embodied the spirit of the Pathfinder ministry—building strong, Christ-centred youth who are ready to serve and lead in their communities. As the Pathfinders move forward from this day of celebration, their journey with Christ will undoubtedly continue to inspire others to follow in their steps.
