Thousands Encounter Christ at North England Conference Area 3 Day of Fellowship
Over one thousand worshippers filled The Baths Hall in Scunthorpe on Sabbath, 29 August 2026 as members from across North England Conference (NEC) Area 3 gathered for a day of fellowship, worship and baptism celebration under the theme Encounter with Christ.
The event brought together churches from every corner of Area 3 for what many described as a day of joy and unity as congregations that often worship separately came together as one body to praise God and reconnect with one another.
The guest speaker for the occasion was Professor Ojewole of Babcock University, Nigeria, who travelled to Scunthorpe to share a message centred on drawing closer to Jesus Christ. In his sermon, Professor Ojewole challenged and encouraged church members to seek a fresh personal encounter with Jesus Christ, reminding the congregation that true revival begins with an authentic meeting between the believer and the Saviour.
The day was made even more memorable by a baptism celebration as new believers publicly declared their faith and were welcomed into the family of God, adding a note of heaven-sent joy to an already spirit-filled gathering.
As the day drew to a close, members were called to carry the spirit of the occasion beyond the walls of The Baths Hall. Church members were encouraged and empowered to unite around the One Voice 2027 initiative working together in mission across Area 3. They were further challenged to see personal encounter with Christ not as an end in itself, but as the beginning of outreach, that as believers encounter Christ they are in turn sent out to help others do the same.
The Area 3 Day of Fellowship stands as a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when churches set aside individual schedules to worship, celebrate, and plan mission together and organisers say it has left Area 3 energised for the work of reaching Area 3 and beyond for Christ.
