Sunderland Adventurer and Pathfinder Club: Serving the Lord in Their First Week
The Sunderland Adventurer and Pathfinder Club may be only a week old, but their enthusiasm to serve the Lord is already shining brightly. On a cold and wet Sabbath afternoon, the newly formed club joined forces with Newcastle Personal Ministries for a community outreach event on Sunderland’s bustling high street.
Determined to make an impact, the young Adventurers and Pathfinders donned their red Class B uniforms and waited patiently for their mission to begin. Though the weather was far from ideal, their cheerful presence and vibrant uniforms caught the attention of passersby. One individual, curious about the activity, stopped to inquire about the event. Upon learning that free books—such as The Great Controversy, The Sabbath Is Not Sunday, and Be Ye Ready—were being distributed, he eagerly expressed his interest.
The enthusiasm of the community only grew from there. When the boxes of books arrived, the excitement was palpable. One Pathfinder recounted, “I was struggling to open the box because we didn’t have the proper equipment, but the passerby who was so eager to get a copy offered to open it with his bank card!”
Despite the challenges posed by the weather, the team successfully distributed around 180 books in just an hour. However, their mission wasn’t simply about handing out literature. “We took the time to explain what these books are about and why they’re so important for everyone to know,” shared one Pathfinder leader.

The outreach not only placed hundreds of books into people’s hands but also opened doors for deeper spiritual connections. One individual expressed a keen interest in learning more and requested Bible studies. She even provided her contact details and shared her excitement about visiting the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Sunderland. This opportunity has filled the young Adventurers and Pathfinders with hope and a renewed commitment to their mission.
The event was a testament to the power of teamwork, dedication, and God’s guidance. The young Adventurers and Pathfinders didn’t let their inexperience or the weather hold them back. Their efforts touched many lives, and the club is now asking for prayers for the 180 individuals who received the books, as well as for the woman who has taken the next step in her journey with Christ.
As the Sunderland Adventurer and Pathfinder Club embarks on their journey of service, they have already demonstrated what it means to share the Good News with courage and love.
