Master Guide-in-Training Journey Nears Completion as Final Camp Ends on a High Note

There was joy, laughter, and a deep sense of accomplishment this past weekend as the final Master Guide-in-Training (MIT) camp for the 2024–2025 cohort came to a memorable close. This marked the sixth and final camp in a journey that began with eager hearts, involved months of intense learning, and resulted in firm friendships and transformed lives.

Gracing the occasion was the North England Conference (NEC) Pathfinder Director, Pastor Ikwisa, whose presence brought great encouragement. His inspiring Friday evening vespers stirred hearts, and his Sabbath afternoon study on Communication in Ministry was both practical and empowering, leaving many MITs renewed in purpose and passion.

The weekend buzzed with energy as MITs engaged in fun but skill-focused competitions. Group 5 took the crown in knot tying, while Group 1 triumphed in pioneering and fire cooking. Group 4 followed closely behind, showcasing remarkable teamwork and creativity. These challenges weren’t just about winning - they were celebrations of what all the MITs had learned and mastered together.

A fun and adventurous nature walk kept spirits high, especially as stories were shared in engaging ways tailored to the young Adventurers. Meanwhile, the camping experience itself added its own twist to the adventure: the field was a bit on the sloppy side, and a few campers found themselves sliding around at night. But even that became a story to laugh about - and a memory that will no doubt be retold for years to come.

There was also plenty of delicious food, thanks to everyone who brought and shared. The sense of community was truly heartwarming. Singing echoed through the campgrounds as the group bade farewell - not just to one another, but also to their dedicated program coordinator, Sister Shirley, whose tireless efforts helped shape the success of this journey.

The heartfelt testimonies shared throughout the weekend moved many to tears. MITs spoke of personal growth, overcoming challenges, and how the program has drawn them closer to God and to each other. These stories were a powerful reminder of why Pathfinder ministry matters.

Sincere thanks also go to the rest of the area coordinators and the other NEC staff, whose behind-the-scenes support and continuous encouragement helped make the entire MIT program possible. Their presence, prayers, and practical help have been deeply appreciated by all. Special mention goes to Sister Joslyn who has been greatly missed by the whole team.

As the MITs now look ahead to completing their Google Classroom coursework, excitement is building for the investiture service scheduled for October 2025 - venue to be announced.

In the meantime, there’s still something fun to keep everyone singing: Group 5’s original song about the parts of the axe! With lines like “the bit that cuts, the cheek, the wedge, the back, the head, the neck, the shoulder…” the catchy tune not only entertains but reinforces essential knowledge in creative style.

This final camp may have ended, but the journey of service and discipleship continues. To God be the glory for the milestones reached and the lives changed!
