Manchester South’s Children’s Morning
On 28th June 2025, Manchester South’s talented Lighthouse Choir opened the service with the heartfelt song “I love you, I love you, I love you Lord today,” setting the tone for the morning’s programme. The theme of the day was simple and powerful: love.
The service opened with the hymn ‘’Tis Love That Makes Us Happy.’ Visitors were warmly welcomed with smiles and a bookmark as a small token of love. Through song, we were reminded that “God’s love is free, so [we should] pass it on to everyone.”
Each song of praise echoed the same message: “I Am So Glad That Jesus Loves Me,” “Jesus’ Love Is Bubbling Over,” and “I’ve Got the Joy, Joy, Joy, Joy Down in My Heart.” When it was time for prayer, Jessica beautifully sang “All We Ask Is Teach Us Love Indeed.”
As is tradition on children’s morning, the adults were treated to an “adult’s story,” offering valuable lessons about parenting. Celestia and Chavah reminded us of the love Moses’ parents showed him and challenged all parents to be willing to protect their children from harm.
Scripture readings, all focused on love, were shared throughout the programme:
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16, ESV)
“Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude… Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” (1 Corinthians 13:4–7, ESV)
“Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.” (1 Peter 4:8, NIV)
For the special item, the Lighthouse Choir delivered a stirring reminder that “He’s worthy, God’s worthy.”

We were then blessed with a unique sermon shared by three children; all young leaders in the church who love Jesus and want to follow Him. Unathi spoke about Jonathan and David’s deep love for God and their friendship. Chyara reflected on how Ruth showed her love for God by loving a family member. Luke reminded us to love God by showing love to our neighbours and even strangers.
The service closed with a joyful reminder of Jesus’ unconditional love for us: the children sang, “My little heart overflows with love / Because my God is a God of Love!” as the congregation was ushered out—blessed by such a vibrant, Spirit-filled morning.
A heartfelt thank you goes to all the children who led the Divine Service, and to the parents and teachers who support them so faithfully.
