Easter Baptism at Camp Hill

On Easter Sabbath, 4 April, as the congregation reflected on Christ’s sacrifice on the cross, a full Camp Hill Church gathered in joyful celebration to witness five precious souls publicly declare their commitment to follow their Saviour.

Resident Pastor Jermaine Swaby addressed the candidates with a message of reassurance, reminding them that God was pleased with them, just as He was with His Son, Jesus Christ. He emphasised that “baptism does not mean perfection; it means imperfect people committing themselves to a perfect God.”

As each candidate entered the baptismal pool, they were surrounded by the love and support of family and friends, with heartfelt tributes shared from across the globe.

Cienna Rey, a cherished member raised within the Camp Hill Church family, was supported by many loved ones, including her grandparents, who travelled from St Kitts to witness her special day. In a touching surprise, her aunt and family also journeyed from Dubai to be present. Her sister, Savannah, read her favourite scripture, Psalm 46:5.

Fiona Irving-Robinson selected Deuteronomy 31:8 as her favourite scripture, which was read by Sis Swaby. This was followed by a moving rendition of I Am Free and a heartfelt video tribute from her mother, sister, and brother overseas.

Kaisha Cessna-Harris was next to publicly give her life to Christ. Her favourite song, Create in Me a Clean Heart, was beautifully performed by her friend, Tyra Goddard, while a touching video tribute from her proud parents in Bermuda added to the occasion.

Aset Morrison, also raised within the Camp Hill Church community, was accompanied by her family and pleasantly surprised by the presence of many of her school friends. Her favourite scripture, John 10:10, was read by her proud mother.

Ife Opasanya was the final candidate to be baptised. His chosen scripture, Genesis 50:20, was read by Kiana, who also delivered an emotional tribute, encouraging him to remain steadfast and reminding him that God has a purpose for his life to fulfil.

Pastor Swaby concluded the service by inviting the congregation to renew or commit their lives to Christ, assuring them that there is nothing the Saviour cannot do to transform a life surrendered to Him.

As a church family, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to each of the candidates on this significant step in their spiritual journey. May they continue to grow in faith, remain steadfast in their walk with Christ, and experience His guidance and blessings in every aspect of their lives. We celebrate with them and pray that their decision will inspire others to follow the same path of faith and commitment.
