“Taking It to Them - I Will Go" - Sheffield Initiative
A Health Expo – Afro-Caribbean Funday
On Sunday, 10 August 2025, the Seventh-day Adventist Churches in Sheffield, through the “I Will Go in Sheffield” initiative, took the gospel of health, hope, and wholeness directly into the heart of our community at the Afro-Caribbean Funday.
It was a vibrant day filled with energy, colour, and connection - but most of all, it was a day of impact.

Our Health Expo drew steady attention from people of all ages and backgrounds. Through free health checks, practical lifestyle advice, and spiritual encouragement, we touched lives in a personal and meaningful way. By the end of the day:
45 people received personalised health screenings and counsel.
29 individuals welcomed prayer over their lives and situations.
9 people made the life-changing decision to enrol in Bible study.
The highlight of the day came when the Lord Mayor of Sheffield, Councillor Safiya Saeed, honoured the event with her presence. Her arrival brought a sense of celebration and affirmation - not only for our efforts, but also for the value of community health and spiritual engagement in the city.

Many participants expressed heartfelt appreciation for the warmth, care, and hope they experienced. For us, this was more than an event - it was a living demonstration of our mission: meeting people where they are, showing the love of Christ through service, and inviting them to walk with Him.
Special thanks go to the health professionals who volunteered, and to the team led by Valerie Grosset, along with the health ministries leaders and head elders of the three Sheffield churches: John Sadler (Carter Knowle), George Sailinda (Burngreave), and Pat Nyoni (Manor New Start).
We went out. We connected. We sowed seeds.
And by God’s grace, lives were changed.
Sheffield, we’re just getting started.
