Marta Machado — Health Ministries Director
The NEC is pleased to welcome Marta Machado as our new Health Ministries Director. With over 25 years of experience as a nurse and Clinical Quality Leader, Marta brings a remarkable depth of expertise to this role, shaped not only by professional excellence but by a profound calling to care for people as whole individuals: physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
Having worked across both Portugal and the UK in leadership roles focused on clinical governance and quality improvement, Marta has spent her career seeking to reflect Christ's compassion in every setting. Alongside her clinical work, she has given more than two decades of faithful service to the Church, leading in Health Ministries, Family Ministries, Youth and Children's Ministries, Women's Ministries, Pathfinders, Music Ministry, and ADRA at local, national, and international levels.
Marta has a deep conviction that health ministry is a powerful expression of the gospel, restoring dignity, promoting wellbeing, and supporting the most vulnerable with both competence and kindness. She sees health education, prevention, and lifestyle support as bridges that connect communities to the love of God in practical and tangible ways.
In her own words: "It is my prayer that, together, we may promote wholeness, dignity, and hope across our churches and communities, reflecting the healing ministry of Christ in all that we do."
Marta is blessed to share this journey with her husband Paulo and their three children, Edna, Nicole, and Jonas. As a family, they are committed to serving faithfully and contributing to building strong, Christ-centred homes and churches.
Pastor Adam Ramdin — Stewardship Director
We are thrilled to welcome Pastor Adam Ramdin back to the North England Conference as our new Stewardship Director. Adam is no stranger to the NEC, he is a familiar and much-loved figure who has served the conference in several significant roles over the years.
Born and raised in England, Adam relocated to the United States at the age of nineteen, where he gained a varied experience in Bible work, literature evangelism, and public evangelism, including working as an evangelist with Amazing Facts. He has since preached and held evangelistic campaigns across the South Pacific, India, several countries in Africa, and the United States.
Upon returning to England in 2007, Adam served the NEC in a number of capacities including as a Pastor, Youth Director, Personal Ministries Director, and founder of the PEACE Centre of Evangelism in Birmingham, a transformative initiative that equipped dozens of individuals from across the NEC and beyond to share the gospel with boldness and creativity.
Adam is also well known as the Executive Producer of Lineage Journey, an internationally acclaimed video series tracing the spiritual heritage of the Adventist Church, which has garnered millions of views and been used in churches, schools, and even prisons around the world. His passion for mission, media, and equipping members to grow in their faith makes him a wonderful addition to the NEC leadership team in this new capacity.
Bekezela BK Peters — Community Services Director
We are delighted to announce that Bekezela BK Peters has recently accepted the role of Community Services Director, in addition to her current responsibilities as Children's Ministries Director. Bekezela's dedication to serving across these two vital areas of ministry is a testament to her commitment to the growth and wellbeing of our NEC family.
Her combined leadership across both Children's and Community Services positions her uniquely to foster a culture of care, support, and empowerment for members at every stage of life. We look forward to seeing the fruit of her work in both departments across our churches.
A Word from Our President
Pastor Dr Steve Palmer, President of the North England Conference, shared the following:
“The selection of any departmental leader is never a straightforward process. Each recommended candidate must be thoroughly and prayerfully scrutinised, considering not only their professional gifts and experience, but the depth of their calling and their readiness to serve the people of God with humility and grace.
I am truly delighted to welcome Marta, Pastor Adam, and Bekezela into these vital roles. Each of them brings a unique set of gifts, a proven track record of faithful service, and a genuine love for God’s people. I am confident that they will rise to the challenges before them and make a significant and lasting contribution to the mission of this conference.
To our churches and members across the North England Conference, I invite you to warmly receive these leaders, to support them in prayer, and to work alongside them as we pursue our shared mission together. The story God is writing through this conference is not about our strategies or our abilities; it is about His power to transform lives, one person at a time. I believe these appointments are a part of that unfolding story.
As fellow workers in Christ, let us commit to praying for each of them, that they may serve with wisdom, grace, and strength.”
