Who We Are
Introduction
The Seventh-day Adventist Church is a global Christian denomination. Established in the mid-19th century, it has grown to approx. 23 million members worldwide. Adventists worship on Saturdays, following the biblical Sabbath, and emphasise living in a healthy lifestyle and in harmony with God’s teachings. Learn more about what we believe.
The Church’s dedication to service is reflected in its extensive network of over 9,500 schools and universities, providing quality education infused with moral values. Adventists also operate more than 220 hospitals and healthcare facilities, delivering compassionate medical care across the globe. In addition, the Church runs publishing houses and media outlets that share faith-based content through radio, television, and digital platforms.
The North England Conference (NEC) is part of the global Seventh-day Adventist Church. As one of the regional bodies within the UK and Ireland, the NEC oversees and supports Adventist congregations and institutions across the north of England.
As of summer 2024, the NEC is comprised of 145 churches and church plants, serving over 13,000 members. Our headquarters is located in Nottingham, with a dedicated media centre in Birmingham. We also manage the Aberdaron Advent Campsite in northwest Wales.
Grounded in the principles of the worldwide Seventh-day Adventist Church, the NEC upholds values of faith, service, and inclusivity, contributing to the Church’s mission of spreading hope and fostering spiritual growth.
