Bible Study Retreat for Prayer Warriors

Adam Ramdin

Prayer Warriors 2019 was one of the best ones yet! That was the sentiment of nearly everyone who came this year and enjoyed a weekend of spiritual refreshment at the scenic Alton Castle. Prayer Warriors has now been going on for 21 years and over the 2 decades that it has run, countless lives have been changed, miracles have occurred, spiritual healing and freedom have taken place during the many programmes. This year was no different. The theme year was 'Faith through the Crisis' and our main speaker was Pastor Steven Conway from Detroit, Michigan.

Skilfully delving deep into the Word, Pastor Conway looked at the lives of various people and how they handled different crises. Job and the woman at the well were two of the characters covered. Not every crisis in our lives is a life and death situation. Some are crises of our personal situation, or emotional and even of not knowing which direction or path to take in life. Pastor Conway used God's Word to provide broad guiding principles to how we should address these various crises that come our way.

We were also blessed with devotional thoughts throughout the weekend by Sam Walters and Shaun Gooden as well as structured Bible studies on Sabbath and Sunday. The weekend was not all preaching and Bible study though and we also mixed in some fun and games. On Saturday night there was a social in the sports hall and on Sunday as everyone was divided into teams; we had innovative game challenges and traditional fun such as 'hide and seek' in the castle!

Throughout the weekend we were blessed with lovely food and whilst the weather wasn't wall to wall sunshine, there is something special about being in a secluded castle, within a small village in the English countryside, hearing biblical messages, studying the Bible and spending time in Christian fellowship.

Sunday evening saw an agape feast where testimonies were shared that testified of God's goodness and power in the lives of those who were there. Tears were shed, hearts were encouraged, and God's power was evident. We look forward to Prayer Warriors 2020 which will be held from 1-4 May.
