About the department

The North England Conference (NEC) Teen's Department is dedicated to fostering spiritual growth, leadership, and a sense of community among teenagers within the Conference. Our vision is to create a spiritually enriching environment where teens can deepen their faith, develop leadership skills, and actively participate in service and outreach. We aim to nurture a generation of young believers who are confident in their faith, resilient in their personal journeys, and equipped to positively influence their peers and communities.

In the short term, our goals focus on expanding engagement through innovative programs that blend traditional values with modern approaches, such as retreats, workshops, bible studies, social activities and digital devotionals. In the medium term, we aim to strengthen partnerships with local churches to support youth and teens leaders in implementing effective teen ministry programs. Our long-term goal is to develop an extensive Mentoring and Resilience program and establish a sustainable network of faith-based teens initiatives that continue to inspire and empower the next generation of church leaders.

Department's mission and objectives

The mission of NEC Teen's Department is to equip, empower, and inspire teens to live out their faith boldly and to grow spiritually. Through a Christ-centred approach, we seek to:

  1. Nurture a Deep Relationship with God: Foster personal and collective spiritual growth through Bible study, prayer, worship, and devotionals that encourage a vibrant faith and reliance on Jesus.

  2. Develop Leadership and Service: Inspire teens to take active roles in leadership and ministry, providing opportunities for them to serve within the church, their schools/colleges/universities, local communities, and beyond. We aim to develop young leaders who exemplify Christlike character.

  3. Promote Holistic Development: Support teens in navigating their formative years by offering programs that promote mental, emotional health and physical well-being. Our department will be a safe space for personal growth, where teens can realise their true identity in Christ and full potential.

  4. Cultivate a Supportive Community: Build a connected, inclusive environment where teens feel valued, supported, and empowered to make meaningful relationships with their peers, mentors, and church members.

  5. Engage and Equip through Innovation: Embrace technology and creative digital platforms to reach and engage teens, utilising social media, virtual events, and digital tools to communicate the gospel and connect with today’s world SAFELY.

  6. Mentor, Support and Promote Resilience: Mentoring our teens, strengthening their spiritual and emotional resilience, and providing them with the tools to navigate the challenges they face.

Through these pillars, we will strive to inspire a generation of young believers who live out their faith with passion, purpose, and love for Christ and others.
